Ground rules: The term Green Lantern can be applied to any one of the policing power ring slingers across the Galaxy. In this fight the Green Lantern in question is the most well known GL of Earth, Hal Jordan. Goku is the most powerful Sayian in the Dragon Ball Z universe. Like fine wine, he only gets more powerful with age and training, so although he may outclass GL today, I'm using the Goku from when I was familiar with the show: the Goku from the Cell Saga. The arena is a canyon surrounded by a mountain range and wide-open desert. These guys need their space. Personal bias: Dragon Ball Z was a fun show. I always liked the energy-based heroes/villains and DBZ had no shortage of them. Speaking of energy, GLs power ring is far and away my favorite concept for a superhero. I can't say Hal Jordan is my favorite character, but if I could be any hero, it would be a Green Lantern. Fight! Green Lantern powers up his ring and takes to the sky. He doesn't gain much altitude, just enough to see over walls of the canyon. He lands once he secures high ground. No sign of Goku. ...

Ground rules: Doomsday has been depowered as of late due too cloning/personality formation/bad writing. For the purposes of this fight I'm using Doomsday's first appearance, which happens to be when he killed Superman. Bruce Banner begins the fight pre-pissed off and in hulk form. The battle field is earth...these two need wide-open spaces. Personal bias: The Reign of the Superman storyline which takes place immediately after Superman's death is what got me into comics. I, of course, went back to read how Superman died and thought a monster like Doomsday was a much better way to kill him than Luthor getting lucky with a Kryptonite bullet...or something. Doomsday only got scarier in the Hunter/Prey storyline that followed. For those stories alone, I prefer Doomsday to Hulk. Fight! Both combatants show immediate aggression towards each other, but in the contest of rage, Doomsday has already won. The monster sprints towards Hulk going from 0 to 500 mph in a matter of yards sends him flying with a double fisted uppercut. The Hulk saved his face from the blow but is now defenseless as he plummets back to earth. Doomsday takes advantage, leaping into the air and drop kicking Hulk, hastening his decent. Hulk ...

Ground rules: Of course Wonder Woman could clean up with Neo in the real world, so we are going to place her with all her Amazonian abilities into the Matrix for this fight. Digital Diana may seem like a stretch, but it's only fair. See my post on home court advantage for details. As far as Neo goes, his power levels reflect those shown in the Matrix Revolutions. Personal Bias: I loved the first Matrix movie and I like the other two films a lot more than most. If this was a popularity contest, Neo FTW. Fight! The combatants charge each other immediately, both expecting an easy win. Each blow is blocked or dodged at speeds barely perceptible by a human eye. Neo didn't realize that Wonder Woman is a warrior with extensive training with some of the best fighters in the world, in that aspect she is more like Batman than Superman. However, the fact that Neo has uploaded all the moves and techniques of every major fighting style and martial art still gives him an edge. He eventually connects, knocking Diana down clean though the cement of the street and into the sewers below. Before Neo can inspect the sewer, Diana ...

Ground rules: The classic Arthur Queen Aquaman against the Kraken of the second Pirates of the Carribean movie. The fight will take place in the Atlantic Ocean. Personal Bias: Arthur is a better character than most give him credit for his appearances in the Justice League alone. The Kraken was cool for the Hans Zimmer theme that accompanied it, but I thought it was a cop out how it was found dead in the third movie of the series. Fight! Aquaman coming face to face with the Kraken will make clear to him right away that he can't win this battle on his own. The Kraken will have to chase him. As Arthur swims away he will have the beast gaining on him. He will attempt to reach out to communicate, only to learn that the Kraken is out for blood. Luckily, Aquaman is a relatively small target, able to weave in and out of the hosile tentacles. Using telepathy, he will make a call out for help. He will also tell nearby fast swimmers, probably dolphins, to go warn the city of Atlantis of the beast and request the Atlantian Army's aid. Sharks and other sea predators will do their best to ...
